Por 100 años, la Preparatoria Jack Yates se ha permanecidoen el corazón del Third Ward de Houston como un símbolo perdurable de resiliencia, excelencia y orgullo comunitario. Fundada el 8 de febrero del 1926, Yates se convirtió en la segunda preparatoria de la ciudad para afroamericanos, creada para aliviar la sobrepoblación en la Preparatoria Booker T. Washington. 

For nearly 100 years, Jack Yates High School has stood in the heart of Houston’s Third Ward as an enduring symbol of resilience, excellence, and community pride. Founded on Feb. 8, 1926, Yates became the city’s second high school for African Americans, created to relieve overcrowding at Booker T. Washington High School, Houston’s first segregated Black secondary school.
