Advanced Placement
Advanced Placement (AP) courses are rigorous, college-level classes that offer college-level material to high school students. These courses are designed to prepare students for AP Exams offered by the College Board, which can result in students earning college credit while in high school.

Industry Based Certifications
Students at Jack Yates are able to earn certifications in different Adobe applications, Canvas, Entrepreneurship and Small Business Certification, Certified Logistics Associate, Certified Logistics Technician, Forklift Operations, and Level 1 Filmmaking Certification.

On Ramps
In partnership with the University of Texas at Austin, and Houston ISD, Jack Yates Senior High School offers advance academics OnRamps courses. OnRamps brings the college experience to the high school classroom, providing students their first college course experience. Earn College Credit for free in high school with UT OnRamps courses. Houston ISD provides access to UT OnRamps courses at some high schools.
OnRamps courses are designed by The University of Texas at Austin Faculty to replicate a rigorous, college-level learning experience and to meet postsecondary standards of quality, depth, and complexity. As a number of OnRamps courses are offered over a full year, the concepts that would typically be covered in one semester can be deeply developed over a longer period of time to promote student learning.

Barbara Jordan Career Center
Only students living inside of Yates' attendance zone, and are enrolled students at Jack Yates High School have the opportunity to earn industry-based certifications through our partnership with the Barbara Jordan Career Center during junior and senior year of high school. Students must meet academic, behavior, and attendance standards in their freshmen and sophomore year. Please see the flyer below for more details.
