If any of the options listed below apply to you, please proceed to Step 2.

• 8th - 10th Grade Students (2025–2026) residing inside of Yates attendance zone: Eligible to apply for the Maritime Program or the School of Communications.
• 8th - 10th Grade Students (2025–2026) residing outside of Yates attendance zone: Eligible to apply for the Maritime Program or the School of Communications.
• 11th Grade Students (2025–2026):  NOT eligible to qualify for the Maritime Program or the School of Communications Magnet.

Students entering 8th–10th grade for the 2025–2026 school year must have a Matrix Score of 70 or higher to qualify for admission (a seat offer) to our Magnet Programs.  The Final Report Card from the 2024–2025 school year is required to calculate this score.

Final Report Card for the 2024 - 2025 school year

A Matrix Score cannot be calculated without the final report card.
Applications missing this document cannot be processed for approval or entry into the Magnet Program. 

If your student is currently enrolled in HISD

• Please include their HISD Student ID on the application.
  (In many cases, the Matrix Score will populate automatically.)
• If the Matrix Score does not populate, then upload the 2024–2025 Final Report Card in the Next Steps section of the application.

If your student is currently NOT enrolled in HISD

• Upload the 2024–2025 Final Report Card in the Next Steps section of the application.
  Applications submitted without this document cannot be processed and will be denied.
• You may also email the Final Report Card to Magnet Coordinator Ms. Hunter at chinara.hunter@houstonisd.org
• (Optional) Upload your student’s passing 2024–2025 STAAR scores.  Providing STAAR scores may increase the Matrix Score.

How to obtain the Final Report Card for the 2024 - 2025 school year?

• You may request a copy of the 2024–2025 Final Report Card by contacting your child’s School Registrar or School Counselor during the school year.
• In person visit or calling the school may be the quickest way to obtain the Final Report Card.

• Visit us in person by attending a Thursday School Tour at 1 PM or 2 PM.

• Log in or create an account. If you believe you have an account, try the "Forgot my Password" option to retrieve your account.
• Select the "Take Action"  for your student, or select "Add Student" .
• Enter all updated information for your student.
• Select "I want to submit a Phase 1 application for the 2026 - 2027 school year. (through February 27, 2026). After February 27th, select "I want to submit a Phase 2 application for the 2026 - 2027 school year.
• Add contact information for your student.
• Add student demographic information.
• Type in Yates in the "Search by School Name" section.
• Select the Magnet Program you are interested. (not space available)
• Read and electronically sign the Terms and Conditions.
• Finally upload in the Next Steps section (2024 - 2025) Final Report Card with all grades filled in. If student attended multiple schools in 23-24, upload those Report Cards as well.
